Plan availability

The CPC Campaigns tool is available only for Awin Accelerate and Advanced customers.

A CPC (Cost per Click) campaign lets you reward partners for each click they generate. It can run on its own or alongside other commission models such as CPL (Cost per Lead) or CPA (Cost per Acquisition).

If you run CPC together with CPL or CPA, the partner will receive payment for both unless you set the program and partner commission to 0 to avoid double payment.

When to use it

Use a CPC campaign when you want to:

  • Run time‑bound promotions with specific partners.

  • Reward partners uniquely for agreed‑upon campaigns.

  • Track performance tied to a specific value parameter.

Prerequisites

To successfully set up CPC campaign you need to make sure you agree on a campaign value with the partner.

Partners must use the correct campaign value in their tracking links.

How to set up a CPC Campaign

In the platform navigate to Commission > Rules > CPC Campaigns.

  1. Click Add CPC Campaign.

  2. Configure the following fields:

    • Type: Choose between Generic or Creative specific.

    • Title: Name the campaign so it’s easy to identify.

    • Publisher: You can select any active partner on your program. However, the same partner can’t run two overlapping campaigns at the same time.

    • CPC Rate: The rate is how much a partner will be paid for every click they bring to the campaign. This rate can be changed at any time throughout the live campaign.

    • Schedule: There are two options for CPC campaigns, ongoing or scheduled:

      • A scheduled campaign can be used to either test a campaign with a partner or introduce a CPC campaign during busy periods such as Black Friday or Christmas. The end date to these campaigns can be extended or the campaign simply restarted if you wish to continue with the campaign.

      • An ongoing campaign will continue to run until you end it manually.

Creative-specific CPC campaigns

Creative‑specific CPC campaigns tie the CPC rate to a particular ad placement or creative.

To set one up:

  • Use the creativeID of the chosen creative so clicks can be attributed correctly.

  • Instruct the partner to use that creativeID in their tracking links.

This ensures proper tracking of performance at creative level.

When the CPC commission is calculated

CPC commission is calculated daily at 2:00 a.m.  Clicks occurring after midnight but before 2:00 a.m. are counted toward the previous day’s results.

For example: a click on 9 July at 1:30 a.m. will be counted for 8 July.

Which clicks are considered

The total click commission is based on the clicks generated by the partners running the campaign.

CPC reporting

To view CPC campaign performance, go to Reports > Performance and select one of the following reports:

  • Transactions report: CPC and creative‑specific CPC actions appear as pay‑per‑click (PPC) transactions. They are created as Approved, with the transaction day corresponding to the day the clicks occurred. When exporting as CSV, you’ll see an Order reference containing:

    • Number of clicks

    • Date

    • Creative ID (if creative‑specific CPC is used)

    • Format: clicks/rate/publisherID/creativeID/YYYY‑MM‑DD/THH:MM

  • Publisher Performance report: Shows number of clicks and total CPC commission. Earnings per click calculations include all related transactions.

  • Performance Over Time report: Displays click and commission performance over a selected timeframe. Useful for long‑term trend analysis or time‑specific promotions such as Black Friday.

  • Other reports: Similar CPC data may also appear across additional performance reports.

What can partners see

Partners can view their creative‑specific CPC commissions in their Transactions report. They will see the same click reference format used in your reports.
