Commission Manager is the main tool for setting and managing the commission rates you pay to partners. This article explains what it does, how to access it, and the key parts of the tool.
What Commission Manager does and how to access it
Commission Manager gives you full control over how you pay commission. You can:
Set standard commission rates for your program.
Give higher or bespoke rates to certain partners or partner groups.
Schedule campaigns and promotional rates in detail.
View all current, future, and past commission rates.
This helps you align your commission strategy with your commercial goals and react quickly to new opportunities.
You can access it on the platform by navigating to Commission > Rules > Commission Manager.
Important
Partners must receive at least 7 days' notice before any changes. Commission reductions can be no more than 20% at a time and only every 30 days. You can inform the partners about the changes through the Communication Center.
Main sections of Commission Manager
Commission Manager is divided into three tabs:
Commission Groups: Build and set the standard commission structure and logic for your program.
Publisher Commission Rates: Create bespoke rates for individual partners or groups and schedule changes.
Timeline: See past, current, and upcoming commission rates for selected partners.
Commission Groups vs. Publisher Commission Rates
If you are new to commissioning, the setup can feel complex. However, it’s important to understand the difference between Commission Groups and Publisher Commission Rates and when to apply them. Both features work together but serve different purposes.
Commission Groups
Commission Groups form the foundation of your commissioning logic. They are applied automatically based on predefined conditions in your program. This means they shape how your program behaves every time a transaction is validated.
Commission groups:
Apply automatically based on transaction conditions such as product category or customer type.
Define the core logic of your program.
Ensure consistent, rule‑based payouts.
Are visible to all partners joined to the program
Example
You may choose to set commission groups such as:
8% for new customers, but 5% for returning customers
10% for shoes, but 5% for handbags
These rules apply to all partners unless you intentionally layer another rate on top using the Publisher Commission Rates.
Publisher Commission Rates
Publisher Commission Rates are optional adjustments that apply only to specific partners. They don’t change your underlying logic - they simply override the final payout for named partners.
Publisher rates:
Apply only to specific partners.
Don’t alter your program’s logic or rule-based conditions.
Are designed for rewarding strategic partners or negotiated additional exposure.
Are only visible to partners who were added to that specific publisher rate.
Why the distinction matters
Keeping commission groups and publisher rates separate is essential for a transparent, predictable program. When they’re treated as the same thing, it can lead to:
Unexpected commission payments.
Confusing results in the timeline view.
Breaches of platform rules, including notice periods or reduction limits.
Commission groups set the logic. Publisher rates fine‑tune payouts for specific partners. Maintaining this structure ensures clarity for you, your partners, and the platform.
