Tools overview
There are several tools available in our MCP, but you don’t need to name them. Simply ask your questions in natural language, and the assistant will pick the right tool for the task.
We’ve listed the tool names here, so you can recognize them when the assistant shows which one it used.
What you can see depends on the accounts on your Awin login. Please also note, that this first version of the MCP is a curated set of questions, and not a copy of every screen in the Awin platform.
Important
Awin MCP doesn’t replace the Awin platform. It can’t open every report, change account settings, approve or decline transactions, or answer questions about accounts you don’t have access to. For anything not covered in this article, use the Awin platform or the help center.
Types of tools
The tools are divided by which account they can perform actions for:
Everyone - Cover account list and help center search.
Advertisers - Cover account, partner and creative performance.
Publishers - Cover programs, program details, performance by advertiser, and tracking links.
Agencies and multi-account users - Cover accounts comparison, and portfolio KPIs.
Tips
Date ranges: Performance questions cover at most 31 days at a time. Ask for longer periods month by month.
Currencies are kept separate: Totals across accounts are shown per currency, not converted.
Large results are shown in pages: Ask the assistant for the next page or narrow your question.
Tools for everyone
awin_list_accounts
Lists every advertiser and publisher account you have access to, and which tools work with each one. It doesn’t return performance data.
Example prompts:
Which of my Awin accounts can you see?
List my publisher and advertiser accounts so I can pick one.
awin_search_help
Searches Awin help center for how-to answers: tracking set-up, account configuration, platform use, etc. It doesn’t return your performance or report data.
Example prompts:
How do I set up conversion tracking?
What types of reports are available in Awin?
Advertiser tools
These tools work when you ask about an advertiser account. They need an Awin plan that includes API access - if yours doesn’t, the assistant will say the account is not entitled to that data.
Each tool covers up to 31 days at a time.
Tips
If you manage more than one advertiser account, say which one you want to ask about, e.g. for my UK account.
To ask about several accounts at once, use the agency tools.
awin_get_account_performance
It shows advertiser account health for a date range: campaign figures and transactions. It doesn’t break results down by publisher or creative.
Example prompts:
How healthy is my advertiser account this month?
Summarize campaign performance and transactions for the last two weeks.
awin_get_partner_performance
It breaks down the performance by partners for a specified date range. Use it when you want to see results for specific publishers.
Example prompts:
Show publisher performance for my advertiser account this month.
Which of my publishers drove the most commission in the last 14 days?
awin_get_creative_performance
It can access the clicks, impressions and commission by the creative for a date range.
Example prompts:
How are my creatives performing this month?
Which creatives got the most clicks in the last 30 days?
Publisher tools
These tools work when you ask about a publisher account.
awin_list_programmes
It lists programs for your publisher account, by relationship (joined by default; also pending, suspended, rejected or not joined) and optionally by country. It doesn’t return clicks, sales or commission - use awin_get_advertiser_performance for these.
Example prompts:
Which programs has my publisher account joined?
Show my joined programs in Germany.
awin_get_programme_details
It pulls key figures and membership for one program: EPC, conversion rate, approval rate and membership status. It doesn’t return a date-range performance report.
Example prompts:
What’s the EPC and approval rate for [advertiser name]?
Am I still joined to that program, and what’s its conversion rate?
awin_get_advertiser_performance
It surfaces clicks, impressions, sales and commission by advertiser for a date range of up to 31 days. It doesn’t include program figures such as EPC - use awin_get_programme_details for these.
Example prompts:
Show clicks, sales and commission by advertiser for this month.
Which advertisers earned me the most commission in the last 30 days?
awin_create_links
Creates Awin tracking links for advertisers you are joined to, optionally wrapping a landing page, adding click references, or shortening the link.
Example prompts:
Make a tracking link for [advertiser] to this landing page: [URL].
Generate tracking links for these two advertisers and send me the URLs.
Note
The assistant should show you what it’s about to create and ask you to confirm first.
It can create up to 100 links per request.
Short links count against your daily short-link allowance, as they do in the platform.
Agency tools
These tools are for anyone with access to multiple accounts, such as agencies. Rankings stay within the same account type: publishers with publishers, advertisers with advertisers.
Each tool covers up to 31 days at a time.
Note
Currencies are not mixed: Totals are shown per currency.
Very large portfolios may be too big for one request. The assistant will ask you to narrow it, for example to one account type or a list of account names.
Accounts without API access are marked in the results rather than shown as zero.
awin_compare_accounts
It provides a ranked snapshot of how your accounts are performing in a date range. Use it to compare accounts with each other.
Example prompts:
Which of my accounts is doing best this month?
Rank my advertiser accounts over the last 30 days.
awin_get_portfolio_kpis
It shows a KPI table for: all your accounts, only advertisers, only publishers, or a named subset. It gives totals, not a ranking.
Example prompts:
Give me a KPI table for all my publisher accounts over the last 30 days.
Show KPIs for every account I manage this month.
