This article lists the common issues you can have when using our MCP, and their potential solutions.
Most problems fall into four groups: sign-in, access to an account, date ranges, and busy periods.
Your assistant usually explains what went wrong in plain words - and you can use the below tips to troubleshoot.
Limits
31 days per request - Performance questions cover at most 31 days. For longer periods, ask month by month.
Requests per minute - Awin limits how many requests each user can make per minute. Very large questions can hit this. Wait a minute and ask again, or narrow the question.
API access by plan - Advertiser reports need an Awin plan that includes API access.
New accounts take a few minutes - After you are added to an account, it can take up to 10 minutes for it to appear.
Results come in pages - Large reports are summarized and paged. Ask for the next page or narrow the question.
Links per request - Up to 100 tracking links at a time.
Sign-in problems
The assistant asks me to sign in again - Your session has ended. Sign in with your Awin account again. If it keeps happening, remove the Awin connector and add it again.
"The Awin MCP server is not enabled for this account" message - Awin MCP is not available for your account yet. If you believe it should be, contact Awin support.
The setup screen asks for a client ID, secret or token - You don’t need one. Leave those fields empty (Claude) or leave authentication as OAuth (ChatGPT). Never paste an API token into an assistant.
My organisation’s assistant doesn’t show the option - On Claude Team or Enterprise, and ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Education, an administrator of that assistant may need to allow custom connectors first.
Account and access messages
What the assistant says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
You don’t have access to this account. | That account ID is not on your Awin login. | Ask Which of my Awin accounts can you see? and pick one from the list. |
This account or plan is not entitled to this data. | You have access to the account, but its plan doesn’t include API access for this report. | Talk to your Awin account manager about your plan. |
An account I expect is missing. | You were added recently, or it’s under a different login. | Wait 10 minutes and ask again. Check you’re signed in with the right Awin login. |
The assistant should always highlight issue with accessing an account, instead of showing it as zero results. If it reports zero sales where you expect data, ask it to check whether it had access to the account.
Date range messages
What the assistant says | What to do |
|---|---|
The date range is longer than 31 days. | Ask for a shorter period, or ask it to split the period into months and combine the results. |
Busy or too many requests
What the assistant says | What to do |
|---|---|
The per-minute request limit was reached. | Wait a minute, then ask again. Narrow the question: ask about fewer accounts or a shorter period. |
The portfolio is too large for one request. | Filter by account type (e.g. only my publisher accounts) or name the accounts you want. |
Wrong or surprising answers
AI assistants can make mistakes, even with correct data.
For important decisions:
Ask the assistant which account and date range it used.
Check key figures in the Awin platform.
Totals across accounts are per currency - they are not converted.
Contact support
Contact Awin support if:
You still can’t sign in after reconnecting.
You are told Awin MCP is not enabled but believe it should be.
Figures differ from the Awin platform for the same account and dates.
When you contact us, include the assistant you use, the time of the problem and the question you asked. Never send passwords or tokens.
