# Using QR codes

QR codes offer a simple, low-cost way to connect offline marketing with online sales - perfect for partners with physical locations.

## What is a QR code

A [QR code](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code) is a scannable image that directs users to a webpage - like a product, homepage, newsletter, or social media. It’s a fast, convenient way to engage customers using their smartphones.

## Where can QR codes be used

Anywhere physical. Common placements include:

- Leaflets, posters, or pamphlets
- In-store displays
- Product packaging

**Example:** A hotel might place a leaflet in guest rooms with a QR code linking to the tea or coffee products offered.

## Why use QR codes

- **Reach more customers:** Bring your products into physical spaces and tap into new audiences.
- **Expand marketing channels:** Partners can promote your products offline - sometimes their strongest channel.
- **Low cost:** QR codes are inexpensive to create and use. Partners may request a higher commission to cover printing costs.
- **Track offline activity:** Add an Awin tracking link behind the QR code to monitor performance through the platform.

## How to set up a QR code campaign

1. Reach out to partners: Use the **Communication Center** to invite partners with physical locations to collaborate.
2. Update your program overview: Mention your interest in QR code partnerships to attract relevant partners.
3. Discuss details:
  - Where the QR code will be displayed
  - Which product or page it links to
  - Commission rates
4. Create the QR Code
  - Build your tracking link using the **Link Builder**.
  - Generate the QR code using tools like [qr.io](http://qr.io) or [qr-code-generator.com](http://qr-code-generator.com).

## Using voucher codes

Combine QR codes with vouchers to boost engagement. For example, offer 20% off a product or first-time purchase.

Make sure to enable the [voucher attribution tool](/advertisers/docs/using-the-my-offers-tool#how-to-add-a-voucher-with-voucher-attribution) (under **My Offers**) to track all related sales.

## Case Study: Grubby & Myvegan

Grubby included a QR code in their package insert to promote Myvegan, successfully driving new customer acquisition.
