What is the Transactions report

The Transactions report provides details on all transactions of any status, and offers the ability to filter by pending, declined or approved, partners, desired timeframe and transaction type (sale, lead, bonus etc).

The Transactions report gives detailed information for all transactions, and certain results can provide further information. For example:

  • The Device column will show the devices used for the click and for the transaction.

  • The Touchpoints column will show you the touchpoints within the user’s path to purchase.

  • Clicking on the number displayed in the Sale Amount column opens a detailed breakdown of the transaction and the commission groups used.

Accessing and filtering the Transactions report

To access the Transactions report log in to the platform and navigate to Reports > Performance > Transactions.

You will be presented with various filters that you can adjust to see the desired data:

  • Period: Select from pre-defined list of data ranges, e.g. Today or Last Month.

  • From and To: You can define your own date range by selecting a start and end date for the report.

  • Based On: Select what the report should be based on - Transaction Date (when the sales occurred), Validation Date (when the sale was validated), or Amendment Date (when the sale was amended).

  • Transaction Status: Select the type of transaction you wish to see in the report, e.g. Pending or All.

  • Publisher: Select which partners you want to be included in the report. When you click Select Here, a partner selector window will open up. If you don’t select any of the partners, they will all be included in the report.

  • Search for: You can enter a specific string of text you wish to locate, and the report will look for this text in the areas you specify in the In dropdown.

  • In: Define the area where you want the Search for text to find matches, e.g. Sale Amount, Commission or Transaction ID.

If you would like the report to only show amended transactions, click the Amended only checkbox.

Click Generate Report to apply your selection and show the report.

Exporting the transactions report

Customer journey touchpoints

Transactions report allows you to explore the touchpoints that an end user encountered before making a purchase.

Note

Transaction’s journey is limited to a maximum of 50 touchpoints within a 30-day period, calculated back from the time of the transaction.

In order to track the customer journey touchpoints, you must have the Awin MasterTag installed. Additionally, the availability of data is subject to the customer’s browser settings and the potential use of script blockers and similar tools.

To view the touchpoints of a transaction, follow these steps:

  1. Use filters to narrow down the list of transactions to those that fulfill certain criteria.

  2. Generate the report.

  3. Identify the transaction you want to examine.

  4. Click the journey icon in the Touchpoints column. The icon is only active for transactions which by design can have a customer journey. It is deactivated for bonus, CPC, compensation, and transaction query transactions.

  5. A pop-up containing the journey opens, displaying the touchpoints from beginning to end.

Understanding the touchpoints data

In the top half of the pop-up, you will find a timeline that visualizes all touchpoints of the journey from the first click to the sale. The distances between the points on the graph are scaled in line with the time spans between the individual touchpoints.

The bottom half of the popup features a table listing every touchpoint in chronological order. It includes the click type (First, Click, Soft, Winning), date and time of the click, and the partner name and ID for every click.

Zooming in on journeys with multiple touchpoints

For journeys that have a high number of touchpoints, you can zoom in on the specific parts of the timeline:

  1. Position your mouse pointer on one side of the section of the timeline you want to zoom into.

  2. Keep the mouse button pressed.

  3. Move the mouse pointer left or right to the other side of the section (drag-and-drop).

  4. Release the mouse button.

The timeline will now zoom in on the selected section, again with all touchpoints positioned to scale with the timespans between them. Click on the Reset zoom button to return to the original timeline view that contains all touchpoints.

FAQ

Can I see which URL a transaction came from?

Yes, you can use the Transactions report to identify the URL. Use filters to include the desired time period or a partner, then generate and export the report. In the downloaded report look for the publisher_url column - it shows the exact website where each sale was generated.

If this column is missing from the report or is blank, please contact us to check if this feature is enabled for your account. It’s also best practice to reach out to the partner to ensure they are passing this data back to Awin, as we can only display it if it has been correctly provided.
