Shopify auto-validation helps you keep your Awin reporting accurate by automatically declining cancelled orders and adjusting transactions when partial refunds or returns happen. Once set up, your Awin program will validate orders based on the returns period you choose - saving you time and reducing manual errors.
How Shopify auto-validation works
When a customer cancels or returns an order in your Shopify store, the Awin Shopify App sends this update to Awin.
Cancelled orders are automatically declined.
Partial refunds or returns are applied as adjustments.
If no changes happen within your selected returns period, the transaction is automatically approved in Awin.

Important
To enable this feature, share your
myshopify.comURL with Awin so we can whitelist it first. You can get in touch with our support team by filling out the contact form.
If your Shopify store domain is not whitelisted as an accepted domain in your Awin account, you’ll need to take an extra step and add your domain by navigating to Account > Tracking Settings > Accepted Domains in the platform.
After making sure that the integration is complete, follow these steps to enable auto-validation:
Go to the Awin Shopify App in your Shopify admin.
Open the Settings tab, then select Features.
Tick Enable auto-validation of transactions.
Enter your Awin auto-validation period into the Returns Period field.
Click Save.
Test Shopify auto-validation
After you enable to feature, complete the steps below to run a quick check:
Run a test transaction through the Tracking diagnosis tool.
In Shopify, cancel the test order (don’t update it in Awin).
Once your Shopify returns period has passed, check the Transactions report in Awin to confirm that the order was declined.
Note
To speed up testing, you can temporarily reduce your Shopify returns period to one day
FAQ
Can auto-validation handle partial returns or refunds?
Yes. The feature automatically adjusts the transaction to show the correct sales value.
Are the returns period in Awin Shopify App and the Awin platform synced?
No. They run independently.
For example, if the Shopify App returns period is set to 10 days and Awin auto validation period is 16 days, the Shopify App will automatically validate the orders after 10 days.
Will orders placed before the feature was activated auto-validated?
No. Only orders placed after activation are validated.
Will I see order changes reflected instantly in my Awin account?
No. Auto-validation works in batches and only applies updates after the returns period expires, so reporting is slightly delayed.
How can I check my Awin auto-validation period?
Go to Account > Overview. On the left-hand side, you can locate the auto-validation period in days. Learn more here.
